Deoksugung is one of Seoul’s five surviving grand palace complexes from its last dynasty, the Joseon Dynasty. It is the smallest of the palaces best known for its Stone Wall Road. The palace complex includes two main palaces, one built in the traditional Korean style with many late-Joseon structures and the other built in the Western style with two neo-classical structures and the country’s first Western style garden. In addition to the palace buildings there are beautiful gardens, courtyards and the National Museum of Art. Closed on Mondays.
